Well the UK tour is finished. And hopefully soon between not being able to sleep at the right times and work and other things the video will get done. There’s a lot of clips and some of the 16 skateparks got some footage but not all. but mostly it was good fun!
Well you could put 7 sweaty men in a small room with windows that don’t really open, a toilet the size of a hamster cage, feed them meat and cake for 4 days and see if the smells produced can get you invaded by a foreign super power searching for chemical weapons.
Thats how we spent some of our time in Hamburg, along with watching the Peter Serofinowicz show and Grosso’s loveletters then practicing static backside boneless.
Oh yeah – we occasionally ventured out to skate some of the the rad shit over there. Killer trip. I’ll let the footage speak for most of it but lets just say as soon as we landed back home we were plotting how to get out there again.
And we met Lester Kasai. And we had to explain to 1 or 2 of the younger members of our group who he was. (“He invented the benihana? OMG!!!”). I took a few pics whilst winding down, there are others taken by Mystery Steve but he’s so mysterious you’ll probably never get to see them.
Two years ago we started this website with this post and we are happy that our silly experiment in not doing a zine has continued and so far some of you like it. Well at least we know that 318 people on Facebook “like” us. Thanks for paying attention.
Hopefully in 2013 we are going to bring you more content but, to be honest with you, we might just be skating to much to do that. But we will try. Also we will most likely make some crap videos, t-shirts, hoodies, and maybe other things if we get our asses into gear. No, we really will try. Honest.
What should you do in 2013? Let’s make a list:
Skate more!
Support your local skate shop! This can’t be emphasized enough. Your local skate shop supports your scene and you. Unless you live in the back of beyond and have no choice, quit buying your skate gear from the internet and find a shop that you can call your own. We list some that we have been to on the left side of our website and all of them are better than the internet.
Support your local DIY. Skaters building stuff for skaters is the best phenomenon in skateboarding and has been going on the whole time. The concrete that you learn to pour, contour and skate on is more fun and satisfying because it’s yours. Some want a vert ramp. Whatever your poison it’s up to you to go and get it.
Road trip. Skating other places is a ton of fun. Skating other places with your friends is better. When you come home you will skate the stuff you know with a new perspective. Go, find, and skate.
Skate a pool. It’s in your skater DNA and is a must do for everyone that skates.
And lastly (I’m sure I could say more but the sun is out and I want to go skate.) GO SKATE!
Thanks for listening and buying shirts, stickers and hoodies from us!
