Lincoln City Trip Day 1

Memorial Day weekend 5 of us got in a van and left Seattle for Lincoln City and even though it was supposed to rain we went anyway. The following is the first installment of what happened.

So Friday morning we packed up the van and after we all met up in Renton, Washington we hit the road. The ground was wet and the weather report bad and things weren’t looking too good. We drove through many rain squalls on the way to our first stop at the skatepark in Woodland, Washington. We stayed for about five minutes and it started to rain. Hard. We did, however, get a call from Erik who said it was drying up in Battleground, Washington and so that’s where we went next.

Battleground was dry as a bone and I for one forgot all about the fact that I had told Matt that we were not going straight to the Brooklyn Street DIY spot like we had said we would earlier. Oops. We spent the next couple hour or two having a blast skating all over Battleground skatepark. Good times including a slappy session in the parking lot. What could beat that? Brooklyn Street could.

After apologizing to Matt who had been waiting at Brooklyn Street (Portland, Oregon) for us for quite a while we went there to skate. On the way there it rained so hard that the high speed wiper setting didn’t seem like enough. Once again when we arrived it cleared up. After a little bucketing and apologizing we had a great session. This place is great fun and a great DIY effort. Make sure you give Brooklyn Street some money and go skate it!

After it started raining at Brooklyn Street again we went to the Tigard, Oregon skatepark. When we got there the whole park was wet but the sun was shining. We did what northwestern skaters do and broke out the squeegees. We got a whole lot of water down the drain and the kids that were hanging around at the park went from asking what the hell we were doing to wanting to know where they could find a squeegee. The park was dry and we skated our legs off. Most of us forgot to take pictures but I have one for you of Andy pulling a flawless backside air on the big wall at Tigard.

We packed up and headed toward Lincoln City and when we got there had a good dinner and some drinks and went and found the beach house we had rented. Once we had moved in there were more beers, skate videos and general stupidity had by all end we ended our first day dreaming of Lincoln City. Well, Maybe I was the only one.

Enjoy the pictures from our first day and stay tuned for the day two article.

    1. The Honey Badger takes great photos even when he doesn’t want to acknowledge that fact. I’m grateful for his contributions.

      Honey Badger don’t give a shit…
