Memorial Day weekend 5 of us got in a van and left Seattle for Lincoln City and even though it was supposed to rain we went anyway. The following is the third installment of what happened.
As the saying goes, variety is the spice of life. Not to say that Lincoln City doesn’t have variety because it most definitely does but, we decided that we should head down the coast a bit and the rain in the morning at Lincoln City made it seem like a good idea. So we headed south.
The first stop was Newport, Oregon and my take away from this park was that it was rough. So rough that chunks came out of my wheels. We did have fun there anyway because hey, it’s skating and skating is fun. Newport also had it’s share of DIY additions which certainly made it interesting. We didn’t stay too long in Newport and ventured further south.
We arrived in Waldport, Oregon and this is where the fun really began. So much fun that we spent pretty much the rest of the day there. Waldport has this crazy over vert clam shell in the center of it and a really fun race track outside. Immediately the racing around the outside was full on. The track is fun and the locals got in on it too. The racetrack is always a fun feature and there should be more of them. The clam shell has a smallish bowl as part of it but the race track outside can lead into it over what I can only describe what is a a roller coaster like roll in. You also sort of have to choose the top half or the bottom half line through or, er, over the clam shell. In this case the locals did not disappoint. One local kid got a 50-50 on the top edge of the clam shell proving that locals should rule their own park. Since we brought sandwiches we pretty didn’t leave all day. And as so many great sessions on this trip happened it started raining as we left to head back to Lincoln City.
We did stop for some seafood on the way home and some road side beef jerky (the hot stuff was face melting hot).
Day three in the bag. As you can see by the Honey Badger’s photos below there are less of them. That’s what happens when you have too much fun skating and you’re positively exhausted at the end of the day.
