Lincoln City Trip Day 4

Memorial Day weekend 5 of us got in a van and left Seattle for Lincoln City and even though it was supposed to rain we went anyway. The following is the fourth and last installment (not including video) of what happened.

Monday morning was pack up and go home day. The house worked out great and it was much better than the KOA last year. I slept so much better which is a great reason all on its own.

We couldn’t leave Lincoln City without getting a little bit more skating in because why would you want to leave a good thing if you don’t have to. After a short session we headed north. Of course, we stopped at Newberg, Oregon.

If you haven’t been to Newberg then you owe yourself to give it a go. It’s large and it has a lot of everything. We also met up with some Portland skate pals. Mark Conahan, Rich Burton, along with Steve and Jack Grover. They showed us what was up at Newberg.

Then everyone went to West Linn, Oregon. I hadn’t ever been there and I certainly must go back as I know I haven’t found all the lines. Exhaustion didn’t help either.

One more stop on the way to see the flooded capsule at Vancouver, WA and watch all the bikes and scooter kids, food and then home.

What a great trip! There are far two few photos of day four in this report but having fun skating and being tired will do that to you. Now to get started on video editing which is hard to do when you’d rather be skating. Later!

Lincoln City Trip Day 3

Memorial Day weekend 5 of us got in a van and left Seattle for Lincoln City and even though it was supposed to rain we went anyway. The following is the third installment of what happened.

As the saying goes, variety is the spice of life. Not to say that Lincoln City doesn’t have variety because it most definitely does but, we decided that we should head down the coast a bit and the rain in the morning at Lincoln City made it seem like a good idea. So we headed south.

The first stop was Newport, Oregon and my take away from this park was that it was rough. So rough that chunks came out of my wheels. We did have fun there anyway because hey, it’s skating and skating is fun. Continue reading Lincoln City Trip Day 3

Lincoln City Trip Day 2

Memorial Day weekend 5 of us got in a van and left Seattle for Lincoln City and even though it was supposed to rain we went anyway. The following is the second installment of what happened.

After a breakfast of eggs and sausages that Matt brought from the Tri Cities we got in the van and went to the Lincoln City Skatepark. Lincoln City might very well have the most amazing skatepark anywhere on the planet. If it isn’t it’s definitely at the top of my list. Essentially there are five distinct areas to skate and there’s no way that anyone knows all the lines there except maybe Red Scott who built it.

The sun was out and the park was dry and we pretty much spent the entire day there. All morning until we took a break for lunch during which we ate some tacos, checked out the surf / skate shop, and had a session in the street in front of the beach house before Continue reading Lincoln City Trip Day 2
