Here’s a video of a brand new Seattle skatepark that has a nice set of lights and so we couldn’t resist going over there and checking out the first night that they were on. It was bloody cold but we got in a short session with some local skater pals. Go skate!

Happy 2012!!
Here we are at the end of our first year at Oh My Back. Thanks to the people who check us out and most of all thanks to the great group that makes this place happen. Especially, Mike, Mikhel, Andy and Rich, because without you guys this wouldn’t be worth doing. Also thanks go out to David, Matt, Erik, Ted, Dan, June, Morris, Ami, Maryanne, Gin (sorry about the photo..) , Doug, Ping and anybody else who went on or participated in our skate tripping shenanigans in 2011. The Lincoln City trip was too much fun and without our extended Oh My Back skater pals it wouldn’t have been.
We planned on doing some things but as usual going skating took a front seat while other projects took the back seat. After all, that’s what we’re about skating (other things too but skating is the thing) and who knows how much longer we will be able to do that so getting some skating in while we can is important.
So my friends… Here’s to the future! We have a bunch of trips and other crap planned and it should be a good ride.
Also I’d like to give a heartfelt rest in peace to Peter Starrs. You were fun to watch and such a good guy to talk to and I’m sorry that I won’t get to see you around and admire your skating anymore.
Thanks for reading.
Go skate!!
All City Showdown
Tuesday I went to the All City Showdown which is the completion of a video contest put on by 35th North Skateshop where teams of 4 (3 skaters and 1 filmer) get 8 hours to film skating spots around town. Winners teams and individuals get picked and the video gets put together and shown. The winners get revealed for the first time at the premier of the video.
This year, for me, was inspiring. Not only was the skating in the video super good (pro level in a lot of cases) but the crowd that filled up El Corazone to watch it was as well. Skateboarding is alive and well in Seattle! A great time with old friends and new.
When the DVD is out I recommend you get your mitts on one.
Who knows… maybe an Oh My Back team next year….
